Independent Bookshop Week 2024

Join us to celebrate Independent Bookshop Week, from Saturday 15th June to Saturday 22nd June!

Book donation drive
We are supporting the Children’s Book Project again this year, and with 40 book shops taking part, they’re hoping to collect as many as 10k preloved books. Pop in and drop off any good condition books for children aged 0-14, all week.

An evening with Mick Herron, 7pm Monday 17th June, £5 – SOLD OUT
A very special event with Mick Herron, who’ll be answering questions about his brilliant books, the Slough House series, the Zoë Boehm series, recent standalone novel The Secret Hours, and more.

Open Throat Book Club, 6-7pm Wednesday 19th June, free
Hosted by our bookseller Ulric, we’ll be celebrating a book that charmed us all with a special book club event – the brilliant Open Throat by Henry Hoke. Come along to the bookshop and chat about this wonderfully strange novel. Book club is free to attend but RSVPing to reserve your place is essential – get in touch over the phone, by email or pop into the shop.

Will Tosh with Simon Savidge on Straight Acting, 7pm Wednesday 20th June, £5
Our second Independent Bookshop Week event reveals William Shakespeare as a queer artist who drew on his society’s nuanced understanding of gender and sexuality to create some of English literature’s richest works, as charted in new book Straight Acting, by Will Tosh – Head of Research at Shakespeare’s Globe. Tickets are £5 including a glass of wine or soft drink.
